  • Mobile battery replacement with common group sizes in stock
  • Terminal cleaning and disposal of old battery
  • Recommendation if alternator or charging system needs repair

A dead battery is the second most common roadside call in Houston, especially during summer when heat kills batteries fast and during winter cold snaps when older batteries can't crank. If your car won't start and the dash is dark or clicking, it's usually the battery.

Boutte's Roadside Service dispatches a technician with a commercial jump box or a truck equipped with jumper cables. The jump itself takes a few minutes. Once the engine is running, the technician tests the alternator output with a multimeter to make sure the charging system is working. If the alternator is putting out 13.8–14.4 volts, your battery was just drained and should recharge as you drive. If it's lower or fluctuating, the alternator may be failing, and we'll tell you that on the spot.

Texas heat is brutal on batteries — most last 3–4 years here versus 5–6 in cooler states.

If the battery is old, swollen, or won't hold a charge even after a jump, we can replace it mobile. We carry common group sizes (24F, 35, 65, 48, 51R) for most sedans, trucks, and SUVs. The replacement includes installation, terminal cleaning, and disposal of the old battery. You pay for the battery and the service call. If we don't have your size in the truck, we'll jump you so you can drive to an auto parts store or your mechanic.

Texas heat is brutal on batteries. Most last 3–4 years here versus 5–6 in cooler states. If your battery is more than three years old and you're getting slow cranks or dim lights, it's on borrowed time. We see a spike in dead battery calls during July and August when pavement temps hit 140°F and during January cold fronts when temps drop into the 30s overnight.
